initial impressions

I love it. This is my first headphone amp. The difference in amazing. I've only burned it in for about 36 hours, so I'm going to hold off on a full review, but so far it's great. At a minimum the amp brings me much closer to the music. The highs and lows are much more extended. There is more depth to the music. For the Senns, the difference between plugging the amp into my receiver and plugging it into the amp is astounding. I couldn't imagine going back. Hopefully this weekend I'll be able to offer more detail.

thats a ton for the impressions guys. i think ill be ordering a classic sometime in the near future. do you think it would be too foreward for my a900s?

That may depend on the op-amps. Mine has the AD86x0 series in it, which is supposed to be brighter than the default OPA2227 or the OPA627 upgrade.

ok i was gunna go for the default one anyway. im to new to this to do any modding or anything yet. i dont wanna spend extra money for differences i cant hear yet.

I also ordered a headsave classic, and i can't wait for mine to arrive. I ordered the 627 op-amps to go along with my A900's. 8620's might be a bit bright with the A900's.

what about the stock opa2227?

i dont really feel like shelling out for the 627's.

The 2227s are supposed to be less bright than the AD86x0 series--more like the 627s in balance.

Classic with AD843 op-amps

My Classic arrived yesterday. I cannot give a full review but straight out of the box with my setup (Rotel RCD-02 and HD580s) and listening to solo Piano the tone and sustain is wonderful, though it may be less well suited to heavy rock but then Norm built it specifically with my musical preferences in mind, in any case at that price it is a real winner.

EDIT

Sound spretty fair with my Jethro Tull and Elvis Costello as well. Bass is tighter than with the Marantz 2226.

in the meantime, you need to tell us, the ones still waiting, how it sounds like though, to make our waiting less miserable, hehe...

can you describe what your amp specs are and what headphones are you using and what characteristics you requested ?
i wanna know how classic with different setting works towards different types of equipments/music...

i got mine yesterday, but i dont have my hd650's yet, those are the cans i bought the classic for. i should hopefully get them monday.
i did test them out with my hd555's, but i prefer the way the 555's sound with my home vibe, they sounded a little muddy with the classic. i'm sure that the 650's will sound better though with the classic.
for the record, i ordered the AD 8620 and 24v PS with mine, along with some upgrade cables.

burn in an amp? never heard of that, do i just run it for an extended period of time?
but that could be the problem, though i dont remember my home vibe ever sounding muddy.
