Oppo PM-3 : The Portable Planar - Impressions

Oh... May I ask where you live? If you reside in Europe, did you pay any import fees when shipping stuff with Shipto? I've ordered quite a few things (All relatively low-cost however) from Massdrop and have never been asked to pay any extra fees upon arrival of the package or delivery.

Sorry for OT people. If anyone's bothered, we can continue by PM. I just think it's good to see what options we Europeans have. :)

Regards Shiptio - you complete the customs declaration that Shipito attaches to the shipment, so whether or not you get charged duties is a matter of personal conscience.

Do these come with matching coloured cables also i.e. red?

Well it seems the coloured ones are destined to Asian market and in that case I may be able to check one during one of my trips. that red cable though... I wonder it these will sound coloured too. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

No, but the red does add 10bhp!

Isn't it bhp/ton? Lighter headphones should scale better. Though I could be wrong, I haven't spent as much time with my headphones on the dyno as you have.

I had a 1hp pocket bike that would do 25-30mph.  I assume something as light a the PM-3 with 10hp should be pretty zippy!

Oh wow am i slow. Just figured out that the long cable's terminal allows for louder volume from sources. I plugged in the apple remote cable on my macbook and the volume was not as loud as with the longer supplied cable. Good to know. Now back to listening to some Blur with these cans

Crazy how I can finally hear the difference between lossless and 320 kbps. Couldn't really with iems for some reason, but with these bass heavy cans, I can definitely tell. It is also fun to be able to go louder with cans than with iems.

What? You sure? That's the first time I hear something like this...

On the matter of cables though, is it easy to find custom cables for the PM-3? I would love to have an inbetween length cable when/if I get them. :)

Cable length doesn't matter for headphones. The Remote requires extra wiring for the remote, which likely adds resistance to the cable in addition to the circuit within the remote, which decreases volume at the same source volume compared to a non-remote cable.

After finally growing out of my V-MODA M100s substantial bass, I decided to try a couple of the new guys this week.  I sold the M100s after I got a pair of the Momentum 2.0 Wired because I definitely preferred the sound sig of the Senns.  Having read this thread, I had to give the PM3s a shot.  It's only been about 20 min. of listening so far, but I'm not sure I like them better than the M2 yet.  I'll have to do some side by side comparisons tonight as I'm only going off memory w/ the M2 because I'm at work.  But yeah...I also picked up the HA-2 to go along with them.  Coming out of my Galaxy S6, it's pretty damn nice.  The DX90 was also added this week and wow is it impressive.  This has been an expensive week.

What's really funny is that I didn't even get to the thread until two nights ago, and by the time I ordered them, they were here in a day (I paid for overnight as I'm going on a little trip this weekend).  So I didn't have to sit and wait through backorder status.  Timing is everything!
