Music City Meet Vol. 3 -- Nashville, TN -- Spring 2015 (April 18, 2015)
Mar 25, 2015 at 9:57 PM Post #274 of 513
I'm planning on making this trip if all lines up. As you will see from my profile the only
item that I have of interest is the AKG K7XX Mass Drop Special Edition that I purchased
last Christmas. I noticed that there will be at least 2 other pair of these at the meet to
check out.
I'm really hoping that someone will take pity on me at the meet and help me sort through
my collection of headphones and decide what I should keep and what I should trade or sell.
I have made several purchases since Black Friday which were all good deals. But all the
headphones are entry level at best by most standards. I don't have access to a HiFi store
in my area so I purchased all these online to hear for myself the difference in the major
brands. I'm sure that I can sell them easily at cost or at a small loss. I'm hoping that
listening to different amps and players will let me know what I should do.
But again, I'm REALLY hoping that someone will show some southern hospitality
and educate me on the finer points of amps and headphones. I'm really excited
about the meet and getting acquainted with the members that I read about here.

You will never meet a nicer group of people in your life, if you like headphones that's all that matters!  A niche inside a niche you will have some serious fun.

The simple answer is what sounds best to you for the music that you prefer (comfort also factors in).  At the meet you can hear many of the others and then listen to yours again.

Mike,

You are coming to the right place, lots of very experienced headphiles, great equipement and even better people. Look forward to meeting you!

what these guys said mick, really hope you can make it !
there's always some wheeling dealing going on, and lots of sharing knowledge, experience,
i haven't been into head-fi a real long time, but i know seeing new blood coming in is exciting , it reminds me of
first getting started here, so come on !

as for dealing, trading, i just bought a solv x cable from cute, and he has another cable he let me hear from double helix cables, single ended, made with "fusion" wire, for audeze cans , that's better than the cable i had with my audezes , he'll part with, at a BARGAIN  price, let me know, or get in touch with him.

I will also be bring samples of the SolV, Norne's Speciality Cable for Audeze, the Arcane, Draug 2, Vorpal and a mystery new IEM cable to the Meet. Along with discount coupons for new orders to Norne, so great cables, along with significant discounts for all of your Headphones.

Thought I'd check in with you guys.

I am transitioning to a new job, which should be flexible enough for me to come to this meet. You can put me down as a tentative.

I'll be bringing the following gear:
Sennheiser HD595
Logitech UE6000
Antique Sound Labs MG-Head OTL MK3
HiFimeDIY Sabre SPDIF DAC
iBasso D-Zero
Velodyne V-Pulse
My Lenovo laptop with a hundred+GB music (digital output to the DAC)
Oneplus One to source the iBasso

I'm excited to try a ton of new cans.

Any word on the Audeze EL-8 or the Hifiman HE-1000?

EDIT: I'll also have an Audioquest Forest RCA interconnect. I'm not really a cable person but it was so cheap with my discount.

And if anyone wants to test it, I can bring my Blue snowball.

Hey guys! Apologies for not being as involved in the thread as I was earlier-- kinda have a lot going on at the moment, and it's getting tough to make time. (And I have PMs to reply to from Skyline and harlw-- I'll hit you guys up tomorrow!!) Meet is, of course, still on track! As soon as I can resolve some out-of-nowhere issues with my desktop, I'll carve out some listening time with the gorgeous Woo Audio amp that is sitting here woefully underappreciated and get some thoughts together on that too.

Still really excited about this!!! Just hoping we have enough space for everybody

This meet seems to be gaining ground each year. Maybe in a few years it will be referred to as CanJam-South.

Looking forward to it guys. Just picked up the pm-3, so please add that to my list. Hopefully I won't sell or trade it before the meet.

For those of you who haven't followed the impressions from Can Jam, the new Mr. Speakers headphone dubbed "Ether" is a stunning release and many are saying the star of the show. It is now the object of my desire...my precious

I've been hearing that it's good, but overpriced...

$1500 is a lotta bones for sure. Puts the Ether directly in the hd800, lcd-x bracket. And that's some very competitive terrritory for sho...

BTW, the pm-3 is rockin' nicely. Pretty neutral with a slight bump in the bass. Great isolation and comfy...I like it!!
