Is it possible to rejoin these JVC HAFX40 leads?

Our cat thought my JFC HAFX40 leads look like a fun toy to play with and unfortunately one of them stopped working.

So I went to strip them back and rejoin them but this didn't appear so easy once I opened them up...

All 3 wires look like they are actually touching each other, like they are not insulated individually from each other!?

How does this work???  Is it possible to repair these?

P.S.  I tried to embed the pic in the post but it said I "don't have permssions".

Those are enamel-coated wires. The enamel acts as an insulation. It needs to be heated & removed at the tip before you solder. Google "Soldering enameled wire" and I think you'll see some examples.
