Hi all,

I've always been a casual audiophile - never would/could allow myself to get swept up in the never ending equipment race, but I have some nicer older hi-fi stuff, nothing exotic, but nice enough (NAD, parasound, audio engine, etc).

I'm interested in putting together a nice sounding personal, portable system, and was hoping for some thoughts and advice. Cost and practicality is a driving factor. The goal is to have something that sounds

My thinking so far is

- Ety 4-p/s (already have these, and still haven't found anything better, I love the clarity and transparency of these)
- iphone 6 - AAC (loseless format) recordings via itunes - again already have it.

These two together nice, but, can I make take it up?

I'm thinking of a DAC/AMP as the next logical step. I'm really intrigued by the Schiit Magni2/Modi2 combo, and wonder if that will make a noticeable difference. My onc concern (about most wall wart driven DAC/AMPs is you can't use these unless you have 3 outlets.... 1) for DAC 2) for AMP 3) for powered USB hub (connect phone to DAC via lightening<->USB dongle)

That seems terribly limiting for what's supposed to be "portable"

Any thoughts or recommendations appreciated.

Thanks!

Just none small correction: if you go for the Modi 2 (not the Modi 2 Uber), it does not require a wall wart. It gets what little power it requires over USB. So the setup would "only" require two wall warts, one for the Magni 2 and one for the powered USB hub.
