PM-3 were ok but missing the fun factor of my HE400. EL-8 would be more up my alley?

Just gathered a pretty clear picture from reading the el-8 and PM-3 threads. I demo'd them when picking up my Angie and I liked them. Similar to the K550 but with more of that planar extension and better mids.

The connectors remind me of the Apple lighting cable.

Sounds up my alley! Just watched Jude's video introducing EL-8, and those connectors are nothing at all like my Beyer's connectors...

They aren't something I would wear out of the hose they are pretty big. I don't wear any on ear headphones out of the house anyway.

Eager to read it, man L3000.gif

Moving back and forth between PM-3 and HE400 this afternoon and was surprised how much more bass presence my open HE400 have vs. PM-3. Lucky for me, I'm happier with my current planars- and they have the bonus of much better soundstage wink_face.gif

Yes they are very similar. Do you have any issues with them coming loose? Mike Mercer was reporting issues as well as a few others. I'm sure Audeze will solidify the bad ones, or take care of it in warranty.

Never had one problem with the cable coming out, but I am usually sitting down they do need a little force to pull out. I like the design incase you get caught up on something they will come out and hopefully saving the cable from being damaged.

That was my thought when I first saw them as well. Have you read up on what Audeze has actually put in to those connectors? Very interesting and forward thinking IMO.

Yeah they have done a lot of new things with the EL-8's especially with the magnets they are very light for planars.

Only if you have really small, shallow ears wink_face.gif

I've got small-ish ears that sit close to my head, and my ears felt cramped and were touching the inner mesh lining. I can't imagine people with larger ears using them. Seems like they'd become supra-aural HP blink.gif

I also think folks with larger melons might need to work on bending the headband a bit to reduce clamping force. My head is fairly narrow, and I wouldn't want then tighter.

Build quality is stellar, and they were very comfortable besides my ears touching the mesh. Wish they had more and faster bass, more energetic upper end, and better soundstage.

Can you put different pads on them? I have small ears and a very large head, my kids always make fun of how big my head is lol.
