Tbh seeing that the original X3 is still on Beta fw two years after its release has made me loose confidence in their DAP's.......

You'd think by now they could've had it nailed down. They're spending too much time cramming new devices onto the market instead of finalizing the existing models imo.

I just purchased a pair of kz zn1 from Aliexpress.

Dual dynamic driver earphones with an inline Texas instruments amplifier and adjustable eq for high and low frequencies.

Boom

You're a die hard (fan is not appropirate) "subscriber" to the KZ iems :D

My point exactly, this is a very short seight strategy imo. At least I won't be a returning customer to their DAP line.

Ok. Just checked the KZ ZN1 iem on Aliexpress. Very innovative and exciting design. Has a small LCD screen, 2 separate sound tubes for each driver, 2 separate TI amp chips for L/R channel and intelligent alerts built in to the amp section (* see below)... but, that frequency range, oh that super narrow range (60-15kHz), it made me thinking... Possibly A typo???

* (From Product Page):

9. intelligent alerts when users set the volume exceeds the maximum, the headset will alert and inform the user sound too loud may damage your hearing.
When users use a headset in a row more than 90 minutes, the headset will alert and inform the user needs proper rest to avoid ear fatigue.

Lol! Exactly what I've been looking for

It probably wouldn't even survive a day before I'd step on it...

Wonder if they are going to release a separate ZN1 model, independent of that in-line amp.  Also curious how will it sound after 10hr when battery drains, if there is a passive audio mode.  Well, KZ warned us that next release going to be different and more "smart", and it looks like they really delivered

Not sure how it will sound with DAPs, double-amping that is.

On the product page it is said that the amp section can be turned off (if you intend to use it as an iem only). But that(!) Chinese-English texts may be misleading though...

I'm still looking at getting an x5ii. I really haven't seen anything else in that price range that appeals to me. Yet

You don't like the dual slots, balanced out, coaxial out, AKM DAC, Batman Dark Knight looks, multiple face buttons on the Cayin N5 for around $338.22 USD?

Well, don't know why so much hatred for the poor X7 that hasn't even been released yet. They look awesome to me, and probably will sound awesome too. I would definitely jump in it if i had the money!

I agree. FiiO has been dealing with a lot of crazy, unrealistic requests for the X7 and even when it's close to production there are still massive requests for some significant changes. To be honest the X3 was pretty weak IMO with the layout of the buttons but I bought one on launch because of the price/performance ratio (sold it as soon as the X5 was released). I guess that not everyone can be pleased.

I agree, it looks like a smartphone, but I don't really care. I agree that pressing buttons on one side will be more difficult when there are symmetrical buttons on the other side. Too bad they didn't stick with a couple of their earlier designs. All I know is that if the X7 sounds close to what I think it will based on the hardware spec so far the unit will be a steal of a DAP at its price.

Then again who really knows how the interaction and SQ will be until it gets in people's hands. Waiting patiently.
