Sorry, I asked this already in the cables thread, but I suppose this might be better noticed. It'll probably not take more than a single reply to clarify.
Okay, so I want to modify some headphones with a 70 ohm impedance to have a detachable cable, so I was thinking of picking up some mmcx connectors, which are tiny enough to not have to do any real cutting away to fit properly. Thing is, the mmcx connectors are rated at 50 ohms. Will this degrade the quality of sound or hurt the headphones in any way?
I was also thinking of using MCX connectors which will also fit, and have a higher ohm rating of 75. Now is it better to be a bit higher or lower when it comes to such things, or does this not even matter at all? My electrical knowledge is rather basic, but I'm learning as I go. From what I've read, 50 to 75 can hurt a signal, but does also factor into headphones?
I'm guessing that it will, but I'm also concerned about using a 75 ohm connector since it's a touch higher.
Any help will be much appreciated for quenching my OCD here. XP
