I love the overall tone of the LCD-2, but for some bands I need more bite/crunch in the sound of distorted electric guitars.  I bought a pair of Grado 225e recently because I was not fully happy with the LCD-2F.

On a side note, you should check out the XC's. Ooh man do I love them for metal and pretty much anything else I throw at them.

The XC's cost $2100 CAD + taxes :(

Anyway I have already pre-ordered the Open-Back EL-8.  (Sill waiting for my tracking number)

Good point ;)

I hope that I will like the Open-Back EL-8 but at the same time I hope that I'm not going to have tinnitus issues like I had with the HE-560.

true that. there is a reason that standard connectors are the standards.

Sorry if I missed it, but didn't Audeze elude that there was some big secret reason for them creating a new connector? Did they ever give the purpose?

It wouldn't matter given the horrific dive the Canadian dollar has taken in recent months.

Yes it's crazy!

Yesterday I wanted to order the Oppo PM-3 but the total cost here would be $610 CAD.  (With the shipping and the customs.)

For Canadians looking for a good price on the EL-8's that doesn't include crazy customs and currency exchange and all that, http://www.headphonebar.com/audeze-el-8-open-back-headphone/ and http://www.headphonebar.com/audeze-el-8-closed-back-headphones/ and http://www.hifiheadphones.ca/audeze-el8-open-back-headphones/ and http://www.hifiheadphones.ca/audeze-el8-closed-back-headphones/

All $820 + Tax. Free Shipping.

For comparison's sake, ordering directly from Audeze, $US 700 = $CA 875 today. Not to mention the $120 or so of custom/duties, as well as the double tax. lol

They are $1,060 in Sweden (shipping is extra), and none of the dealers in Ukraine or Russia even have them listed yet. Consider yourself lucky.

Would love to hear more impressions of the closed back EL-8's if anybody has any to share.

I hope to receive mine this week. I have the LCD-X and LCD-2F on hand, so I will be able to compare all three...

I've gathered here that the open version seems to be sonically superior to the closed version, but can someone who has heard both comment specifically on the difference in bass response? I would guess that the closed would have more bass impact and slam, given that they're... closed. I'm debating on which ones to get, and will want the ones with more sub-bass since I listen to bass-driven music exclusively.
