Jumped on the train and bought a pair from penonaudio.
I skipped the VSD3/S, first there was the cable issues, then i wasn´t to thrilled with the overly bassy sound signature and shrill highs. I tend to like leaner headphones like the B3, KC06 TDie800 etc etc. However, i borrowed the vsd3s from a friend at work and i really liked the design and fit.. Isolation was very good as well! However i did not really enjoy the sound ( this is just based on a very short listening session )
I have high hopes for the vsd5 to bring balance to the force, i can see it as a proper portable solution. I am so sick of iems that you can´t use when on the go. The B3 have a quirky fit in my ears and the bass is a little to lean when there is alot of outside noise. I love the sound of the KC06 but the design is just strange. However comfortable but the big downfall is the isolation and sound leakage which is very poor.
My absolute favourite iem is the TDK ie800. It sounds so damn good to my ears and it is my go to iem for reference. Perfect bass, perfect detail, perfect articulation.. However as so many other iems it´s useless on the go. The cables are very microphonic and they stick out quite alot from your ears. And they match poorly with most DAPS since they are only 10 ohms. ( sounds fine with the Xduoo x2 and garbage with an ipod classic for example )
I don´t expect the Vsd5 to sound as good as the ie800 ( to my ears ) but i think it might ad a touch of fun and comfortable portable listening without any real issues.
I have the vsonic vc02 and the vsd1s, both have their pros and cons but i don´t really enjoy them as much as the kc06 or the tdk ie800.
