Best headphones to go with my Pono player

Thread Starter

So I recently purchased a Pono player (Please dont judge me, lol) I want to spend about $500 on headphones.

I prefer a Sharp/Bright/Crisp sound... and nice bass is defiantly a plus.

I settled on getting Senhieser HD 700 because people say they are more brighter then the 600/650

I do hear a lot of good reviews about the HiFiMan HE500 & the Shure 1440... but will those sound too warm? any ideas?

Whatever I do get I plan on running it through a O2+ODAC... I wouldnt need anything else would I?

Thanks again for any help and suggestions! -Daniel

Hello,

Sharp, crisp, bright high and nice bass sounds like Grado!

As for amp/DAC, if you already like the Pono Player sound, you don't really need one but if you wish to have one for desktop, consider the FiiO E07K & E09K stacking as well if you are interested in the Grado

Hope it helps

For under $500 to go with Pono, I would suggest Shure 1540 (closed back)

Pono being an on-the-go device, you may prefer closed headphones.

This makes a really good kit:

I thought the balanced mode was just a gimic. But my impressions are the same as other threads here are stating, it worth it. It makes both output amps of the Pono work on their own.

That's what I use at the office (closed), and it's under 400$ CAD for the kit, maybe around 325 USD for you. LKPR headphones has free shipping since a couple of weeks and can be returned if you are not satisfied.
