Yet Another UE SF5EB-Replacement-Thread, or not? (StageDiver, JVC Real Sound, Westone ADV, ...)

Hi folks,

I need a little advise, some good advice... I would be really glad about some help.

Well, let's start... *takes a big breath*

I've got pair of Ultimate Ears Super.fi 5 EB since 2007. I love them really really much but I've bought 7 replacement cables so far. Now, since Logitech (I hate them so much!) bought UE, there is no original replacement cable available anymore in my region. There are some budget replacement cables which aren't fitting properly and look ugly. So I'm without a cable for them at the moment!

An alternative would be to order an expensive handmade cable (at least 150 USD all together) from Null Audio in Singapore. As I spend just around 300 USD as I remember for the In-ears, this is a pretty unbalanced investment. Even more, as I used them outdoors in snow/rain I'm not sure about the condition of the drivers (corrosion? please correct me if I'm wrong, and don't beat me for this thought).

So that's what I need to deal with at the moment. Beside this, I've three pairs of UE Metro.fi 220 and I had a pair of UE Triple.fi 10 Pro some while ago. I like the MF220 quite a lot, they come close to the SF5EB. By contrast, I didn't like the TF10 they had just not enough bass and the highs scratched my ears - horrible!

Now I started to look for a proper complete replacement for the SF5EB, as I did a few times before in the past years when I had to buy a new cable. -.-

I must admit that I'm not very keen about hifi technology and even don't have a DAC right now (searching). I just did my buying decision based on reviews and frequency response charts (are they comparable?) in the past. Because I listen mostly to electronic music (dubstep, breakbeat, dnb, trance...) and southern/hard rock (i.e. acdc) I'm searching for bassheavy In-Ears and I wouldn't be sad if a replacement have more bass than my current SF5EB - so call me a basshead.

Alternatives I found so far:

> JVC FXZ200 for around 240 USD

> Unique Melody? JH18? Whatever...

While searching through the head-fi forum I also found Dunu DN, Vsonic GR, Sennheiser IE8xx, B&W (definition of uglyness), ... but they didn't seem to match my ideas.

Do you have any advice for me? Any recommendation?

I'm standing still right now and don't know what I should do...

No, thanks. I checked it but the cables seem not to be better than the non-original replacement cables currently shipped by Logitech.
