Guys I have a question, for those who have both or have listen to both. Is there a huge difference in sound quality between the two? Like in a giant leap in sound quality. A difference that you can hear the minute you play something from it, not a "let me audition it for an hour or two before i notice the differences".
Fiio X1 vs Astell&Kern AK100
Head-Fi's Best Sellers
I will be using IEM's with the AK100 (the original one) so it shouldn't be much on issue with the impedance. I have the Fiio X1 but then through a black friday deal I purchased the AK100 for $380. I'm just wondering if the SQ difference is worth 3-4x the price.
I never used a Clip so I will take your word for it but the price difference between a clip and X1 is not that big, still manageable.
it is however the same magnitude of what you are describing from the X1 and Ak100 , I handle all straight line perfomance expectation the same way through all price bracket
$900 is expected to perform 3x of the $300 , the $300 better perform 3x of the $100 and so on. Some iems is not exactly what you would call sensitive on impendance, throughout my times with the ak100 , I used the likes of Ck100, IE8/80, Triple Fi 10, you just have to put in more effort to find the right pairing
I will try with my IEMs and see how they hold up. If the impedance is causing problems to the SQ or if the sound signature isn't to my liking I will send them back.
I mean, the difference in DAC quality should mean better sound quality. (I know sound signatures can change and that I expect)
