It should of had an AMOLED, but the screen isn't bad to look at, it's pretty good, very sharp and the viewing angle is good.
It also should have usb3, but if I put all my favourite music that I keep on the internal SD, I can use the external Sd for quickly updating of my new music. The external sd slot is high quality, and easy to access, so it's not a major issue.

^ Also with a good WiFi network and wireless N standards, 40 to 50mbs are possible, much better than usb2*standards.

I'm sure it's fine as it is. The issue is that at the price they are asking for, I expect much better hardware. The way it is at the moment I would be much more willing to buy it if it were a few hundred dollars cheaper.

I use MP3Gain on my MP3s and ReplayGain on my FLACs and ALACs, and the default player recognizes them just fine.

Not sure which cable your referring to, yet am waiting on this cable below from Japan to use the ZX2 as a digital output to the OPPO HA-2 and other external DACs.

And below is the aftermarket charging cable which has already arrived here (two actually), and both work fine for charging

Hope this helps.

I remember playing with a Sony phone when I still had the ZX1 and it contained the very same version of Android. The Sony phone would chew through the procedures thrown at it while the same on the ZX1 were merely acceptable. There is no real competition at that price point so Sony knows they can stick it to us.

For me the ZX2 should contain 256Gb internal + non-Android software possible Flash and USB3 output and then I would understand it's price.

Regards your question it all depends on what you want to achieve. If you intend to keep the ZX2 for a considerable time and need DSD or wifi streaming then get it otherwise buy the cheaper A17 and wait for the ZX3.

If you want to power Headphones then you need an amp, keep that for sure.

I've been giving some thought to the discussion of, "The ZX2 should have had X...", or about upgrades for a potential ZX3.

Honestly, I think the biggest upgrade that the ZX2 and/or any future ZX model should have is a better processor. As Cecala pointed out, the OMAP 4430 in the ZX1/2 is adequate. It's not amazing, but it's not terrible. I'd like to see Sony source a modern SoC that has a particular strength in power efficiency. So maybe that doesn't mean the latest octo-core, 64-bit A53/A57 chip. Maybe it means a more mid-tier, but latest generation SoC. Likewise, I don't really know that going with 3GB of RAM, like the latest flagship Android phones would make much difference. If anything, that would add to the power drain (keeping more memory cells active at any given time). But I think a bump to 1.5 or 2GB would be welcome.

The screen? Generally speaking, I don't personally see a need for a substantially upgraded screen, except for one usage case. I do think a higher resolution AMOLED, say 720p would be nice. Why? Well, not necessarily for the increased pixel density. Rather, I like AMOLED's ability to save power when used with a darker screen (since individual pixels are literally turned off in order to produce black). I think it would be interesting if Sony developed some sort of lock screen widget to take advantage of that. Imagine having an AMOLED-based  ZX3 docked in a holster in one's car, with a mostly black display used to show album art, track information, date/time, equalization, etc. with a minimal drain on the battery.

USB3 would be nice. And realistically, in this day and age, everything that can have USB3 should have it. But I doubt its utility. I don't think people are transferring huge amounts of data back and forth very often. Most people are going to sit around ONCE for their entire library to copy over initially, and then add a few files here and there as their library grows. The added utility of USB3 is, in my estimation, minimal.

Double the storage space to 256GB? Sure. I've always been a proponent of the saying, "There's no such thing as too much storage".

Increased battery life? While the ZX2 is a substantial improvement over the ZX1, I view battery life much the same as I view storage—there's no such thing as too much.

Thinner? Lighter? Yeah, why not?

Price? The ZX2 pushes even my gadget-lusting ways to its limits. If a hypothetical ZX3 comes out, touting all of the above improvements, plus claims of increased sonic quality, I might be interested at the same price or lower. If the price goes up at all, let alone doubles? Yeah, no.

I'm not sure what the issue is this cable solves. Do you not just use the included usb charging cable? My A17 charges very quickly using the included cable on the computer and who isn't constantly around computers that are on all day at work and at home? Just curious what problem this solves?

This cable, as I've stated, is a spare and is way cheaper than buying an original. So it is more or less permanently attached to a wall plug for charging purposes. For syncing I use the original to my Mac.
It's a spare.

Gotcha, makes perfect sense. Are you using a ZX2 or another DAP? That link gave Canadian pricing, are you also in Canada or was my IP simply detected?
