Schiit Magni/Modi Combo for DT 770 Pro 250ohm?

Thread Starter

Heyo everyone!

Just wondering, would the Magni/Modi combo increase the quality (and of course volume) of the DT 770 Pros 250 ohm version?

OR

Should I just buy a new souncard around the same price?

Thanks in advance!

ALSO, IF THERE ARE ANY OTHER HEADPHONES YOU SUGGEST, PLEASE TELL ME!

If you are upgrading from a onboard audio then yes as most onboard audio solutions are sub par when it comes to analog audio then yes the Magni/Modi combo would be a great upgrade.  Another good option is the DT990 pro-250 which some times go for $125-150 on amazon. But it be best to see if you can find some where that have them out for display not plugged into a subpar setup so you can give them a listen. Then pick the one you like, but you could always buy both at amazon and keep the one you want and send the other back.  But do you know the type of sound that you are looking for which would make it easier for you.

I had a Magni / Modi and personally I felt that I could not tell a huge difference (if at all) even with FLAC between a macbook pro / iPad / iPhone with HD580s and DT880s (apart from volume).  Sacrilege I know...!  I guess it depends on your source, but if it's Apple personally I wouldn't bother.
