Best headphones under 300$

Hi there,

Im looking for a pair of over ear headphones for under 300$. I mostly listen to rock (RHCP, Pink Floyd, Eric Clapton)and a little bit of jazz, classic, indie rock, acustic... Comfort isnt that much of a concern for me, but its always nice to have comfortable headphones. I really like AKG headphones. I got my eyes on AKG K550s, but i heard they are not the best for rock. Is that true? Do you guys have any suggestions?

Are you OK with open cans (they leak sound and don't isolate well)?

What equipment will be powering these cans?  Will you be using an amp?

Do you plan to use them outside your home?  If so, in what way & with what equipment?

Describe the sound signature that you are seeking?

I prefer my Audio Technica ATH-A900X closed headphones, over my AKG K550s

The A900X have more "life" for music audio.

But I really in general do not have any real complains about using the K550s, they are good for easy listening.

What sources are you plugging the headphones into?
