So I'm in the market for new IEM's after the dog ate mine.

Looking for a decent set in the $100-$150 range. Listen to all sorts of music - Metal, EDM, Hip Hop, Podcasts. Doing my research I think both the SE 215's and GR07's sound like good candidates for me. Decent bass is something I'm looking for but not the most important factor.

What's important:

Isolation - I will use these on the subway, in the gym, etc.
No microphonics - I'll be on the move a lot when I use these.
Durable - Aside from the gym I tend to fall asleep with IEM's in.

From reading it sounds like the GR07 is the better overall IEM but what about when you factor in the above? Thanks for the opinions.

I guess it would depend on the shape of your ear. Many people reported good results with sleeping with their SE215, including me. That said, they also reported good(one of the best) comfort.

I've never used the GR07, but sleeping on a square IEM doesn't look too comfortable compared to something that can fit flush in your ears.

The shure 215 will suit all your needs.  I own both the Gr07 and the Shure 215 and the shure 215 do everything you want better than the gr07.  Isolation is excellent on the shures, while, the Gr07 have a vented housing which causes them to not have as good of isolation as the shures.  The shures are also the more comfortable of the two with its flush design with the ear, but that doenst mean the gr07 is a slouch in that department. Its just that its not as comfortable.  The only area where I believe the gr07 wins over the shures is in overall technical sound prowess.  The gr07s bass is impactful and very present but not in your face.  The mids are clean and a smidge recessed but that would only be due to the very sparkly treble.  I find the Gr07 treble very engaging and lively but if you are prone to hearing sibliance than the gr07 might not be for you.  On the other hand the shures have a very friendly sound signature.  A very big bass that has some control and very liquid like mids that just makes vocals shine.  However, the treble while there does take a dive and leaves the treble sounding blunted in a sense.

Overall my pick is Gr07 if your main goal is sound quality unless sibilance bothers you at high volumes.

Shure 215 if your main goal is a good entry iem with good build quality, comfort while sleeping, and traveling due to its superb isolation.

For Shure SE215,

Isolation - I will use these on the subway, in the gym, etc..........(check)

No microphonics - I'll be on the move a lot when I use these...........(check)

Durable - Aside from the gym I tend to fall asleep with IEM's in. ..........(check)

From sound side, ..you can't go wrong with GR07 or SE215...it's depend on your taste.
