Primes showed up early - got next day Saturday delivery without paying more... Thanks FedEx Home!
I have both Alphas and after a quick hour's listen, there is a distinct fullness and weight in the Prime's presentation and control of bass. It achieves this without sacrificing anything across the frequency range. It is fluid and transitions seamlessly supporting every note. I am new to headphones, but I have a little experience to draw from with regards to how acoustic treatment of the room makes for better overall sound with speakers. What I learned there is that bass control is vital for approaching an optimal reproduction (subjective), and if it is well controlled, the music just flows effortlessly. To me, this is what the Prime has over the Dog right out the gate and does so within the same confines of those painstakingly engineered 3D printed cups we've all come to admire. I've lived with the AD since May and had no desire for better sound until I learned about the Prime's existence.
It is still very early to render anything final, but I am loving every moment becoming acquainted with MrSpeakers' flagship. I don't think I will upgrade my AD's either - it's nice to have them both in order to fully appreciate what each does. They bring great satisfaction and enjoyment - I couldn't ask for anything more. Now, I need my balanced cables to show up!
