The Pono Player Impressions Thread

Yes and for the record it did not clear or change a playlist I had on the Pono which I thought it would.

The playlists are stored as files, they shouldn't disappear.

BTW - I finally found 3 features I was looking for on the PonoPlayer:

In song list view, hold down a song to get a popup that will let you add to existing playlist, add to new playlist, or go to album view.

I tested all of these and they work great.

The only caveat is they only run from the song list view. If you are in shuffle they are inaccessible, as far as I can tell.

In the playlist you can move songs up and down the list, not drop and drag, but one position at a time; hold down the song in the playlist view and you get that option.

Although I have no idea if anyone is still interested in buying the Pono players, a large electronics store called Fry's Electronics is selling the Pono player (either yellow or black version) with today's promo code for $228.99.  Our ad says that Fry's is even paying the sales tax on the player.  You will need to go to the Fry's website and apply for a promo code, because you can only get this bargain with today's (8/28/16) promo code.  But the sale price with today's promo code is good thru 9/3/16.  Here is a link to today's sale ad:  https://t.co/Z6JvYUBXP5.  Look under the section "Television, Audio, and Cameras".   Good luck and I hope this is useful to someone out there.

that is a killer deal.  i might pick up my 3rd (well 2nd in the house, 1 was a gift).

no one can match ponoplayer on SQ per $.  no one.

no one probably ever will. it's a pure device with no signal chain deficiencies, and real audio requires that.

I'm picking up a second pono for backup then, great audio quality and power reserves. Here's some old news, I prefer pono to fiio x7 and many other daps in that price range, for use with headphones though, with some iems the pono has some quirks.

Bought these ancient headphones but they have a 1/4" jack so I can't use them with PonoPlayer, but had to get a pic of them hanging out.

Getting a second is really tempting (I'm waiting on a fully tricked out LH labs Wave, which HD kept me from buying more of this stuff, but who knows when/if I'll ever get it). Currently loving my Pono with balanced Trinity cable, Westone W40 (using the foamie Star tips...made a big improvement over the silicon tips, which surprised the heck out of me!)

Sennheiser used to include such an adapter with the 650, I'm sure they're available there and elsewhere.

Adapters are everywhere but be careful -the weight and bulk of the 1/4 can mess up the socket. Don't ask how I know this!

yeah i ain't doing that.  my socket is already getting a little loose after 5-6 drops of my precious. [ew my socket's loose, don't tell]

those cans don't sound that great, they are just a vintage recording prop, something to throw on for a vintage sound and look.

the real find i got on that trip was an ampex pro portable cassette deck, circa early 80's.

Never had a problem with the Senn adapter...
