Sony MDR-1A - Sony's latest update on the 1R

Sorry, I don't have the M100 anymore so I can't compare. Hopefully there will be some frequency response graphs up for the 1A soon. For now I just found them for the 1ADAC, which could be completely different from the 1A.

I hope it measures similarly that looks  pretty much what I want! In fact it resembles a lot of my beloved Q40 balance which is also the first headphone I've owned which didn't need EQing for my tastes, the 1ADAC (hopefully is the same as 1A) seems even more linear in the midrange even if Q40 isn't exactly bad either, the 1A is like ever so tiny more forward in the lower-midrange while the Q40 is very slightly more elevated at the upper-mids. The bass is shaped roughly like I want too, a peaky hill-shaped bass curve which from my experience results in a snappier and punchier bass response compared to a linear down to 10-15Hz response so to me that's a plus (at least if you're into EDM music, this works well).

much improved over the 1R.  A bit hot on the treble so pair carefully.

How is that an improvement?

I welcome the thicker earpads and changes to the sound, but it appears it has the same crappy plastic build. Im just bitter because my left earpad clicks and squeaks whenever i move my head or jaw. Original 1R was also a bit of a letdown sonically, the momentums were just so much better for me, and i also like the ue6000 more as well. Hell, i even like the zx700 more. But, if this new 1ra is better then i shall have a silver one as soon as we get a couple more impressions and comparisons to the previous version

I wonder if the headband of 1a change to metal material or still use crappy plastic ?

After I have read the some review the bass impact of this mdr-1a still weak. Seriously, I really want to move the driver of XB series to this headphone.

Well then why not just get the XB? This new model, from what I have seen, has a ton of bass for a headphone like this. If you real want the XB driver, why not just but the headphones? They are cheaper and have a metal headband.

How is the comfort of the 1A? The 1R is one of the most comfy cans I've ever worn.

The creaking of the left earpad magically fixed itself!

From the outside everything is plastic. Under the plastic there's a combined metal/plastic band. The bass impact is not weak at all, unless you consider stronger than the DT-990 as weak.

No problems regarding comfort, they still feel nice after 4 hours of wearing them.

Edit: They did have them in stock but sold out in 2 days.

I am one of those lucky people and now have them and I can tell you that the bass impact is much better and deeper than my 1R MK2
