Sony's New 2014 flagship IEM - XBA Z5 - Page 39

I thought that sub bass is what you mainly feel and not hear;)

BTW, should have Z5 in 1-2 days from now. Will be able to compare...

have you guys managed to compare Z5 to jvc FX850? i know z5 cost twice as much in some part of the world, but FX850 has some of the loveliest vocal. does Z5 compared favorably?

Neither of them is what I'd call "accurate", both have over-emphasised bass and a "v" sound signature but overall I prefer Z5 - bass goes absurdly low, highs are crispier yet a more laid-back sound. FX850 are good though, actually fantastic value for the current price.

The fx1100 seems to have some new dampening and possibly a new driver. I wonder how it will compare to the z5?

Can some one tell me what is the difference between the MDR-1R vs the MDR-1R MK2?

MKII is the latest version.

Thanks. after some consideration, i think i will give the z5 a miss. mainly because i want them for daily commute and these are probably too big to just warp around my phone and being thrown around once i get to office.

That's not really feasible, though. Even if you get a Z5, you'll still want to get the balanced cable, and then you'd be stuck using it only with the PHA-3. Can't take it on the road. Unless...

I love my Z7 without going balanced so I am pretty sure I would be OK using the Z5 with my current setups. Not to say I wouldn't be over the moon if I can afford to go balanced some day.

Got my Z5 today. Yes, to my ears it has more of sub bass effect , feel it better with the Z5.

Well, Z5 is at a different level, much higher level in everything.

Wider and deeper stage,  more air.

Anyway, need to burn them in first to get a clear picture.

It is definitely at a much higher level that H3 cannot compare.

After 100 hrs of burn-in, I found that the highs and micro detail is more refined than my UM Pro 30, which I think it is already excellent.
