Would be awesome if anyone could shed some light on these vs the IE 80s. Will be buying one or the other this/next week.

I have both the H3 and Z5's. The Z5's are slightly smaller, but not by much.

There was a short comparison between the 2 by lomenhk. Bass wise, seems like the Z5 may be almost as bassy as the IE80, but with better quality.

Rather, how do they compare to the IE800s? We will all see soon :)

Short comparison there.

You just gotta make sure you're only seen from the side - like every single promo shot with these and all the other 'phones from Sony's USB series. :regular_smile :

Lol. Sony should include flash memory in these earphones. They could double up as USB thumb drives in a pinch. biggrin.gif

Comparing this to ie800 makes sony look really stupid especially if ie800 outperforms this ogre:tongue:

In short: Z5 compares pretty well with what is my view a reference in dynamic IEMs. Which is quite a feat in my book.

As much as I enjoy them, Z5 it is far from being accurate. Huge and overwhelming bass (may not be the "correct" sound but I must admit I like that a lot with electronic music), good mids although a bit recessed, surprisingly good highs - objectively speaking over-emphasised but Sony managed to tune them in such a way they are not too intrusive.

Overall very happy with Z5, these are keepers. That being said, IE800 is still a reference for me. Much more natural sounding, almost perfect balance, great bass that goes very low, mids to die for, out of this world highs. The only IEMs that I have where the parametric EQ is almost superfluous.

That is one pretty Japanese chick!

The design of these and other sony hybrids is actually attractive even if they stick out quite a bit, and they look quite comfortable too. Really interested how big the soundstage is on these...

The ie800s are very attractive, too, I'd say.
