I'm responding to the ludicrous suggestion that having a screen somehow lessens the value of music, lessens attention span, or 'not' having a screen makes one appreciate music more. It's ludicrous for anyone to use this as a selling point for this unit design. That's it. I came to look at this thing, asked questions, and I understand the 'no screen equals better sound' argument (though I don't really believe it yet) but that is where the ADVANTAGE of 'no screen' ends.

The problem is you completely over read what I originally said.

Take the original sentence.

You'll find when using Alien you begin to appreciate albums you'd otherwise skip past by using a screen

Take BIG note of the two keywords I've pointed out 'albums' 'skip'.

What this sentence meant is not having a screen ones left no choice but to manually hear the first 3 seconds of each album while skipping to the next, (you cannot avoid this) it must happen at least the first 2-3 seconds, therefore you may find something you want to listen too  "hey I might stop here and listen to this instead" along your navigating journey before reaching your desitination. That was it, simple, sweet to the point, maybe you (or obviously) you misunderstood.

I never said it was an advantage, I never said nothing more  but instead of asking me to explain nicely you jumped to conclusions.....

Then came back with all this.

Why would I load an album in the first place if I didn't like it? If I don't like an album, it never gets loaded. Are people so ADD that a screen with a visible list of their album choices causes them to skip back and forth between albums all the time, unable to select one for precious minutes at a time? I use Spotify, that offers 20 million choices with visual information, and I still have no problem picking out an album and playing it start to finish. In fact, spotify has increased my enjoyment of music above and beyond using my own portable player, mainly because it offers so many choices that I otherwise will never find in my own measly 800 GB collection.

Screens actually help me enjoy albums more, as I can access them easier. I have never skipped through titles or stopped listening to an album two songs in because I have a screen, (oh, you temptress!) or valued what I was listening to less because I have visual information. This is the most ridiculous excuse for a lack of screen I have ever heard. "music sounds better without a screen" while still highly suspect, is much easier to believe than "you begin to appreciate albums you'd skip". Lack of screen = "music appreciation" sounds like something the company is advertising as a joke (as this design already shows a well developed sense of humor), or a purchase validation somebody in this forum came up. IE: "what? No screen? wtf? I bought it. I need to come up with a good reason there is no screen....(thinks on it for a week) Yes! It helps me appreciate music more by removing visual information of album/song titles which leads to endless choices which leads to indecision which leads to thumb pressure pain from using scroll wheel."

Hold on, my spotify album is finished. I need to use my eyes to pick another great album from my favorites list. (Ten precious seconds pass) Ahhhhhh! Where were we?

It was quite simple all along but you've let your fingers run rampant, came to your own conclusion without any hands on experience, pushed that further and completely ranted to the moon.

Anyway, I will not deal with people who become hostile, (read your first quote in this post),  not worth my time here, so good luck to you spatzi.

LOL. It looks like he's actually selling them but they're 'best offer' prices of less than 1/2 the listed price. eBay is like a different universe.

i swear to god….this thing surprises me as much as i expected a 1k Dap to do……soundwise and without amp…..has much more precision than a dx50 AND 90, not as soft as they are, much more power in my opinion

The commands demand a bit of training i guess, especially in the pocket…..but you live and learn.

I feel like with an oldschool walkman and am 15 again….with outstanding music reproduction.

AND IT'S FREAKING BEAUTIFUL TO LOOK AT!

In comparison to the Tera, this has more impact in the sub frequences, more power and body and yet it's airy….it has some grain i like a lot

i'm SO HAPPY i didn't buy the Tera!! (no harm intended…but i know i would have ended in adding an amp to the Tera for more bass….)

That's nice to hear about the Tera comparison. My wallet thanks you! (not that a Tera was ever reply on the cards at that price)

I found yesterday that the little bit of grain in the sound became mildly fatiguing after an hour or so with Noble K10s, but adding my amp instantly fixed that and the additional control takes the sound to a whole other level. I'm finding with the Alien that sensitive IEMs benefit from the blacker background of an amp while less sensitive portables (e.g. Thinksound On1) sound just brilliant without any amplification.

i listened to the K10 a few days ago and the bass impact was much more intense on the zx than with the H8. I can imagine that the alien brings a bit too much subs to be paired only with the k10

Unfortunately i don't have much to compare, will try with the ATH im70 tomorrow....

On the other hand, this is a such damn good match with the H8, that my need for another CIEM is.....GONE!

My Alien came today... no music coming out. My 32gb Samsung microcard with music on it will not play. What am I doing wrong?
