thanks

Premium does have FLAC. Make sure you are selecting HiFi under settings.

You can use 3rd party apps to gain access to EQ.

They sound the same to me.

Premium has HiFi. Turn it on in settings.
I'm not aware of any third party apps that will work with Tidal. I'd be very interested if there are.
I have always thought it odd to the point of stupid that Tidal does not have EQ.
I reckon you would be hard pushed to hear a difference between 320 and lossless. Let alone lossless and CD.
I've never compared Tidal to CD though.
For me the benefits of streaming far outweigh any tiny difference in SQ even if it exists.

UAPP - USB Audio Player Pro (Android) interfaces with Tidal, and has EQ...

One thing I cannot seem to find on UAPP though, is the ability to play offline playlists - could be me just having a moment though smily_headphones1.gif

Oh, and despite the name, you do NOT need to use an external DAC, works through the headphone out of your device also.

UAPP cannot play offline files. There's more information on this in the UAPP thread.

When asked for other tools to EQ, I also use UAPP on my Android devices. I use Amarra for Tidal on desktop (not sure if this is Mac specific - I'm just not a Windows user much).

Comparing CD quality to Tidal, I concur they are equal. Though some have said there may be a certain equalization already applied to the versions from Tidal. Some songs have been reported to sound better than the original CD, as if some form of equalization was done to the copy at Tidal. I've not heard this - simple answer is definitely equal to CD quality.

Ah yes. I should have realised that there will be better options for third party apps for Tidal on a computer.
I only listen on my iPhone.
Sorry. I am a mine of misinformation!

I have to go into settings and switch to default sound output and then back to my DAC. It's happened after every song so far. Gonna reset my computer and give it another try.

Hmmmmmm... after restarting I've had had to do it once so far.

It keeps happening randomly. It mutes the Windows volume control. Which should be disabled once I check "Force Volume" under Tidal settings.

Not sure if this has been resolved in this thread, but Tidal Support (via Twitter) told me to log out and log back into Tidal to resolve. It works.

A couple weeks into Audirvana+/Tidal trial cohabitation.

Tidal sounds very good. Direct comparison of Tidal flac to 16/44 rip (alac or aiff) of same material leaves me thinking Tidal is slightly bleached, not quite as round & naturally flowing. Wouldn't want to put $ on my ability to consistently pick-em, though.

Occasional stalling/looping (?) when jumping between cuts/albums.

Catalog? Surprising depth on some artists (including European albums new to me), then surprising gaps on others.

Enjoying it!

IMOYMMV

Has tidal every mentioned if they will allow local files to be added? I would subscribe if only they had this feature.

In looking for an eq for tidal on iOS I came across this

http://en-us.sennheiser.com/captune-headphone-sound-app

Has anyone played with it yet?

In a brief listen straight from my iPhone 6 Plus I found it a little closed compared to straight from the tidal app.

I'll use my Sony Pha 3 later to see if I still get that

But any other experiences here or other eq options for tidal on iOS?

Nice one! The only downside I have noticed after a brief look is the lack of Tidal offline capabillity. Fortunately for me I am changing my mobile network operator to one that does not charge anything for music streaming services...but certainly a minus for others. Otherwise it is quite nice for a first attempt. I will have to check the sound quality later but there is plenty of options to fine tune the sound and save it for each of your headphones and/or specific uses. Initially pretty good! :)

With Tidal I juat stream as my plan has generous data and usage is not an issue

For my offline stuff, I think it's only limited to iTunes but correct me if I'm wrong, I enjoy the effect/sound and use of onkyo player eq

Sennheiser have probably realized that there will be no need for Tidal offline capabillity from now on. That is what we call Germain precission here in Sweden! :-) I also noticed that it is compatible with DNLA and Airplay. I will give it a try with my Aries Mini as well to see how it turns out compared to Ligthning DS and BubbleDS Next.

What you are looking for is the ROON player.   I haven't used the Tidal UI (Windows7) since I got Roon.
