Oh Schiit, it's the end of the world! Announcing Ragnarok.

Hey all,

It’s (almost) that time! Ragnarok ordering time, that is.

However, since we are being uber-cautious with this release, as it is the most complex product we’ve made, and has several never-before-done features, we’ve decided to start with a short “public beta” period for a limited number of early adopters.

The way this works is that we will select beta testers who can purchase Ragnarok at a discounted price of $1499, with a 100% 15-day refund agreement—including shipping. Yes, that’s right—$200 off the normal retail price, plus you get every cent back if you don’t like it.

Of course, there’s a catch. Two, actually:

  • This test needs to cover all operational modes of Ragnarok, so if you aren’t going to run it with both speakers and headphones, you won’t qualify for this beta test
  • Also, in the interest of shipping sanity, we’re limiting this to people in the continental USA only—with all beta Ragnaroks being 115V, and no shipments to known trans-shippers

If this public beta goes well, expect us to open up ordering at full price and with standard terms, shortly after the beta is complete. If we identify new problems, there may be additional delays—and in that case, all public beta testers will have the option of either returning the amp for 100% refund, including shipping, or having us apply any needed changes on our own dime, including shipping to and from their location.

We’ve spent a ton of time identifying issues and testing all the operational modes on Ragnarok, and we expect it’s solid. But this final test will assure that the shipping product works in a wide range of systems, without any surprises.

If you’d like to participate in this program, please fill visit the Ragnarok page on the site and fill out the form.

We’re closing applications on August 25, 2014, so don’t wait too long if you’re interested.

All the best,

End of times has started!

Looks like a beautiful monster of a product. My only question is, is it safe to use IEMs with this? It seems like one slip of the gain switch and you'd have some blown drivers due to the power this thing has.

Also, does the volume only go up or down in 64 stages, not continuously?

Where's the pics of the innards!

Don't flail around near Ragnarok while using IEMs? Hitting the gain button would be pretty similar to bumping the volume knob on most other reasonably powerful amps, so just be careful?

And correct, it's 64 discrete steps.

Jason, on page 6 of the manual you have the description for Volume labeled 5, where in the diagram it's 4.

Oh man, it looks sweet!

I think the FAQs are getting nuttier--a trend I'd like to see continue. The specs look like they haven't changed at all since they were announced (despite several thousand questions and suggestions)--except for the secret remote control.

The Ragnarok looks like a beautiful piece of Schiit, and I am going to start saving up, so I can get one for Christmas and then it's sister the Yggdrasil later next year.

OMG my wallet!!!

Will wait for beta to be over since I don't have any good speakers to test with. Would like to get Ygg as well.

Oh yeah, innards please! ;)

Very interesting indeed. Jason, I love the humour in the FAQ, but perhaps a little more emphasis on objections than need be; still a funny read for sure. I would like to see more real questions addressed there for instance. Looking forward as well to the statement DAC. Might I finally be tempted to part with my beloved NAD M3 and Gungnir? Sounds like you guys are stirring up some Schiit down there.
