But LCD not best for wearing for hours at a time. Btw, what the heck is your life that you wear headphones 16 hrs/day?
Edit: that's not a hostile question, just a baffled one.

Some people work in an office all alone and they can pretty much do anything they want. Some people work with music and have to wear headphones to hear the sounds.

Ok, thanks. Make some time for ultimate frisbee and sex, tho.

Can you buy air tickets through Amazon? I'd fly to one of the major meets and audition as much stuff as possible rather than spend blind.

Would be safe to say all the 1K plus headphones have less bass than the DT990.

Damn, wish I had a free $4K (speaking as a college student myself)
Try and audition, but the HD800, Beyer T1, or TH900 would be good. You might actually like the LCD-3 or LCD-X/XC. Can't think of too many other cans at that price that's be up to par. Maybe Oppo? Again, with that cash, is save and listen, listen, listen...

Maybe HD800 and the Conductor?

Might as well ask, what do you listen to?

Seriously don't know, dude. Do you mind EQ (planars can be EQ'ed stupendously if the amp can push it)?

What am I looking for in a headphone?

I am looking for a strong bass with a real impact and a warm sound, but I still want very clear highs and mids, and a strong soundstage. I want to hear high detail without a very potent treble like the DT990. I want a stronger bass that neither the 8.35D nor DT990 can provide. I currently wear my DT990 around 16 hours a day, so I am looking for comfort and a playful sound. I wear glasses all day, so I don’t want a headband that clamps extremely hard like the 8.35D.

So I am looking for a

-Hi-fi warm headphone with impactful bass, and a strong sound stage. (Over the ear)(open or closed does not matter)

Not sure if people are actually looking at what the OP is after. He clearly states he want a stronger bass that neither the 8.35D & DT990 can provide. No point suggesting him the HD800.

Maybe the LCD-3/X or the TH900?

All the planars have linear bass, not accentuated like the dt990 is to my knowledge.

My biggest problem with the DT990 is they run out of extension very early causing them the problem of not getting very loud and the quantity and quality of bass isn't there.

You should really demo something, perhaps a planar.
