SOLD: Rega Planet 2000...Excellent Condition...

I’m gonna part with my Rega Planet *sniff*.

This has been my favorite CD deck for the last couple of years, and if you read my profile, you’ll notice that I have several to compare it with. Either you know about the Rega sound, or you don’t. There’s plenty of reading material around Head-fi with the scoop. Some folks dig the edge of more “analytical” players. I have a thing for the Rega sound (also have a Rega P3 turntable) and I really enjoy the near analog presentation of the Planet… (I grew up with tube analog).

The Planet has a unique “fat” sound that presents the media with a full bottom end, a sweet midrange, and just enough crisp top end resolution.

Why am I selling this unit? Well, I just upgraded to the Jupiter…

The Jupiter has the same sound qualities, just more of it (but for twice the price). The Planet sells new for around $800. I’m gonna sell mine for $450.00 plus shipping anywhere in the lower 48. It’s in excellent condition and will be boxed with all original cables/manuals, and remote. I’ll even send my original invoice.

My unit has relatively few hours logged because I have a number of sources to play with.

I don’t have enough time to answer a lot of individual questions about the Rega sound. You can spend some time looking around Head-fi and other sites about this unit. It’s a killer… makes you tap your foot and even jump up and dance the “mashed potato” when grooving on your favorite disc. Once again, it is in perfect working order and appearance is like new.

Serious inquiries only, please…

"Planet

The Planet CD Player improves on the classic Planet in every way with its stunning cosmetics and breathtaking performance. The Planet is the definitive bargain in the audio industry. Its sonics, reliability and innovative design have not been seen or heard before.

The Planet is housed in the Rega custom built extruded aluminium case with the new top loading lid assembly. It uses the same circuit topology as the original Planet but with improvements in the Digital to Analogue Converter (DAC), power supply and coupling capacitors. The DAC is based around the custom built IC40 DAC chip. The Planet uses the same RADS conversion stage as the original Planet and has an extra power supply for the digital section of the DAC. The Planet has a toroidal transformer with separate windings for the display and audio stages. It uses a high performance CDM145BL-5BD25 kit with an improved display and a better level of user functionality.

That is a fantastic deal... if I had the money I would snatch it up in a heartbeat.
