DSEE counts on the fact that your mp3 file will have killed a few things between 16 and 20khz(believing that noise above 20khz will improve your sound is like saying climate change doesn't exist). and it will rise those freqs with some nice noise that shaped to looks good next to lower frequency signal. so if you can actually hear well above 16khz, if your IEM doesn't roll off long before, then you might be able to tell how good the algorithm is.

for everybody else it will have the effect described by a reddit user talking about DSEE:

it's a little silly DSP, if you find mp3 not to be transparent, for real (or in your own head), then you just don't use mp3. I wonder how many people will say that mp3 isn't enough, and then would be happy to add high frequency paintjob to "recover"(lol) the lost signal?

I don't think x3 will be a big difference except for the much superior amp section. The ui is **** compared to walkman one though, thats a fact.

Why don't u save some bucks and settle for x1??

The reviews are very good on it and it costs just 110$.

But untill and unless review of A17 is out we cannot say anything.

I don't own any full size headphones only low inpiedience iem so powerful amp is not requirement. I wanted x1 but no built in storage.

I already ordered the a15 but now thinking about cancelling due to better DAC in the X3.

Anyone actually heard both the A series and F886 like to comment on the sound quality? I own the F886 and like its user interface, however I found the sound quality to be decent only.

get a nice little amp, to deal with power, impedance and noise level. that will get you to something really good for portable(but of course you must first be willing to carry it).

I prefer to avoid making direct comparisons as I owned the F886 only for 3weeks and it was some times ago now. memory isn't the most objective tool for sound. but at least they have the same "kind" of sound. so if you're not satisfied with the sound of the F886, there is no point in looking at the A15.

For members in Sydney Australia this Walkman is available at Sony Kiosk in Chatswood for $249 AUD (16gb version).

While it has my interest and the build looks great, I do need to hear from someone who owns FiiO X1 and the Sony.

My gut tells me X1 will give it a hard time, unless the Sony house sound is something you absolutely require.

I also wonder if myself owning an F806 too is worth trying this device.

I am trying to compare against x3 as in UK price is similar for both dap. The x3 is around £10 less.

I would love to hear a comparison with the Fiio X3 as I will be buying one of them.
