High-End Earbuds (VE, Blox, SHOZY etc) and Earbud Gear Discussion & Impressions Thread

I would say Both the Blox BE3 and BEB 328R are very close in overall sound signature.  The BE3 just does everything a bit better with a slightly larger sound stage.

Personally, the BEB 328R is more comfortable, thus why I want to pick up another pair.  The BE3 was just too big for my ears.

You've addressed both the SQ and the comfort of my concerns, thanks mate

Just received today my pair of Edifier H180!
Currently listening to them (still coupled with my FiiO E10K), my quick impression if the following :

  1. H180 does not sound "HiFi" like BE3 does, right out of the box.
  2. Sound is what you pay for, a 8 dollars earbud.
  3. Sound looks similar to ES10 : very axed in bass domain.
  4. Bass has much more impact than BE3 (which is not a good thing for everybody).
  5. Mids and especially Highs looks recessed.
  6. We are far of sound details that can offer BE3.
  7. Housing looks very good and is very comfortable.
  8. Cable looks not so good but plug breath solidity.
  9. H180 grill is the exact same as used by Mrice E100 (a very good one btw).
  10. Yet overall, I much still prefer BE3, but I prefer them over ES10.

Let's now begin my burning process!
I will wait for 2 weeks before final judgement.
Stay tuned!

Cheers'

Initial impressions do not look favorable, good to know.  I'm still curious about the Dunu's hybrid ear bud as it is anyways.

Has anybody tested AKG Y15? How is their "AKG signature sound"? I've read that previous AKG models had poor bass

Here you have more info: http://eu.akg.com/akg-product-detail_eu/akg-y15-black.html

I'm searching a good pair of V sound earbuds, could this be a good choice or should I look to somethnig as Edifier H180 or Tingo Croons TG-38S?

There's also the Beyerdynamic DTX 11 iE, they are quite old but I haven't found anything about them, and I love the sound of my DT 770 Pro so if their sound if similar I would get them...

Finally, what do you think about SoundMAGIC EP30 / EP20 or EP10? Will they fit my needs?

Thanks

US Buyers can get them from here for about $30:  http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/121456434242?lpid=82

Found a review here on Head-Fi:  http://www.head-fi.org/t/738087/akg-y15-and-y16a-earbuds-theyre-pretty-good

Seriously, I've about had it with AKG and Sennheiser neglecting us earbud lovers here in the U.S. We shouldn't have to resort to buying from eBay or gray importing and being "rewarded" with a lack of warranty coverage or non-responsive sellers when something goes wrong.

I didn't really care for the TG-38S or the SoundMAGIC EP10 (the latter was quite the disappointment), but the EP20 is decent enough if you can get them for well under $20. Haven't heard the EP30. The AKG may be an option based on the review, but it doesn't seem like the writer has a good fit or may not be using foams if he needs EQ all earbuds. Also take a look at the Sennheiser MX375 (not the MX365 since they're mid-centric nor the MX475/585 since they have a more neutral, monitor-like response).

Thanks BloodyPenguin and kjk1281,

Unfortunately, the same happens here with some brands that you can easily buy in US...

I can get AKG Y15 for 18€ and Beyerdynamic DTX 11 iE for 19€ from Amazon, and SoundMAGIC EP30 for 22€, EP20 for 19€ and EP10 for 10€ from a local dealer (keeep it in mind that VAT here is quite high).

And for the chinese brands I could get them from Aliexpress: TG-38S for 13€ and H180 for 10€

As I previously said, I'm looking for something more V shaped that my currently PK3 (especially in the bass section where I miss the quality of my DT 770 Pro).

If there's something below 50€ that suit better my needs please let me know.

You really should give a try to Edifier H180 then, because like ES10, it's a bass earbud (which will fit to your electronic music tastes) but with more control and clarity.
Just tried few mins ago my Edifier H180 after a night of burning, and with bass switch from my FiiO 10K set to off, finally sound looks very promising. Can't wait in 1 week of burn!
I even found the soundstage a bit more fun to listen than BE3.
H180 is already (at this state) my second favorite earbud pair ever (even before PK1). Incredible sound for the price, definitely.

Thanks for the tip.

On your first impressions you said that H180 had recessed highs, has this been improved with burning? I like bass, but I also like nice treble...

Has anybody tried Beyerdynamic DTX 11 iE?

I've found only this "review" at goldenears: http://en.goldenears.net/5701 where you can see they have this frecuency response:

That isn't so nice as the one from DT 770 Pro:

But it's much better than lets say Sennheiser MX985 wich bass starts to quickly fall below 100Hz (despite DTX 11 seems to have some treble roll off compared to MX985):

Finally in headroom, thay have graphs from Yuin Pk1 and Pk2 (wich can be compared to DT 770 Pro), but they don't have graphs from Pk3, but if his bass is similar to its big brothers, then I think Beyerdynamic DTX 11 iE will also be a great improvement in bass area, while maybe I'll lose some highs, unfortunately I haven't found graphs from H180, E100 or BE3 in order to get an idea of how could they sound...

Just tried them again yet, thus still not fully burning, they sound already amazing.
To me, H180 compared to BE3, highs are a bit less detailed but mids looks slightly more present. Of course, I'am doing these comparison on a neutral source (FiiO E10K).
Are you generally playing with an EQ ?
H180 looks promising, definitely can't wait a week of burn. BE3 has a serious competitor here.

From where can I find the cheapest h180 ?

Bought mine from this aliexpress seller, but at $8.98... seller has now up sale price to the double: $17.95, but with 52% discount (so the same price I bought) if you add them to cart now and buy them the 11th.
Arrived in 10 days approx to france, that was quick :) (maybe I was lucky).
