For desktop setups in that budget range, you might also consider Audio-GD products.

Okay, any comparable DACs to the Peachtree Dac iT-X? They're having a sale or $299 (50% off from $599)

I would get the Audio GD NFB-11 (2014) ...

Why ?

32-bit / 384K (Sabre ES9018 chip, Highly regarded) DAC chip , 32-bit/384K USB chip , DSD, DXD support, Powerful AMP!!!!! and finally lots of inputs (optical/USB/Coaxial) + Pre-Amp out.

http://www.audio-gd.com/Pro/Headphoneamp/NFB112014/NFB112014EN.htm

oh I forgot ... It only costs 315$ .....with upgrades around 370$ ... AMAZING VALUE!!!!

Use the rest of your budget to buy some powered speakers to hook up to the Audio-GD smily_headphones1.gif

Actually, regular price on their website is $499, and Amazon has had it for $399 for about six months now.

1. Bifrost/Valhalla2 are great, I love mine. But haven't compared them to your other listed options so I can't speak to that.
2. Those PSB's already have their own built-in amp. R u sure u want another amp for them? They are full size but really made, I think, for mostly portable use without a separate amp...

Bifrost's AKM chip is also 32-bit but since the USB stage in Bifrost is 24-bit, it doesn't support 32/384K (Bifrost is upgradeable so maybe in the future the USB stage will be upgraded), Also, Bifrost doesn't support DSD and DXD..

I have the Bifrost Uber, Haven't had the time to listen to it analytically ... the price for NFB-11 is unbelievable , equivalent DAC/AMP combos from Europe or the US cost double or triple the price of the NFB-11..

They're just really fishy in general. (no stereotypes just from experience) I'd prefer not to get involved.
