50% MUSIC 50% GAMING Headphone recommendations needed :)

Hello,

I am new to head-fi.  I need headphones for 50% MUSIC 50% GAMING. They got to work decently for both. I listen to house/pop/rock and rarely classical music. I play competitive games and i really need to hear where the opponent is (decent soundstage). Bass should be mid range, just for music priorities. Need it for >100$ :(. Profesional advices appreciated :).

Check out the Sennheiser HD558, should be able to find used for under $100.

Not a lot of bass, more like just enough bass to be decent bass.

they have large soundstage for a closed back headphone with very good imagine. probably the best in this price range.. but if you want to go little further, look in to hd558 as PurpleAngel mentioned earlier.

Also, use google by typing your search terms and adding "head-fi."

Is that sennheiser much better than his little brothers (hd 518...)? I'm really interested in buying hd558 now.

I'm of the understanding the Sennheiser HD518, HD558, HD598 use the same 50-Ohm drivers.

But the over all design of the cups make them sound different.

I'm of the personal opinion that the HD558 is better the the HD518.

I would guess the HD518 would offer more bass (something for AC-DC fans), but the HD558 should be better in just about everything else,

The HD518s stronger (louder?) bass might be considered a negative for FPS gaming

The HD558 should take more advantage of a headphone amplifier.
