Welcome everyone! Let's introduce ourselves! :)

Hi guys!

Some of you may recognize me from the forums, I'm Warren.

Many of y'all know my story already.  I kind of fell into Head-Fi when I started doing a lot of commuting by train a couple of years ago.  From lurker to poster to moderator to meet organizer and beyond, Head-Fi has been my main hobby over the course of the past year or so (outside of listening of course).  These days, I even dabble a bit in audio journalism... but that's a whole other story.

In my day job, I'm a mild-mannered consumer electronics product developer.  What that means is that some company will tell me they want a product of a certain type to compete in a certain space.  If it exists, I source it.  If there's something kinda like it, I develop it.  If it doesn't exist, I design it.  And if need be, I'll pull engineering resources to engineer it.  It's creative, fun, and challenging - but hey, it's a living.

Truth be told, I'm not a Toronto Head-Fier per se, as I live in SoCal.  But it looks like I'll be headed up to Toronto later this year for business (and pleasure)... and returning to Toronto regularly thereafter.  And because I'm a huge sucker for Head-Fi meets and get-togethers, I thought we might want to get a group going to make that easier.

-Warren

P.S. - The work/pleasure that I'm going to Toronto for is TAVES.  I am co-organizing CANPAX (CANadian Personal Audio eXpo), the headphone show within TAVES.

Please help spread the word about our group? (Click to show)
I've taken the liberty of inviting the following Head-Fiers to get the group started, but if you can think of anyone I've missed, please feel free to invite them.  Thanks!

Hey there now, we might even get to work together on a future project!  What's you specialty/focus if any?

Well, I guess that makes 3 engineers (Chemical Engineer...class of 9T5 UofT and 9T6 M.A.Sc...also UofT; but I've worked in the electronics manufacturing industry for over 15 years) in this group. I'm born and raised in T.O.

Power Conversion, Power Conditioning, Power Distribution, etc.
I've never designed consumer electronics.
This is man sized, hairy chested industrial gear!
For men.
Manly men.
Hmmmm......too much testosterone, this post doesn't really read the way I want it to read! redface.gif

The CANPAX headphone show at TAVES sounds like a great idea!

I live by the shores of the Grand River.

Born and live in Toronto Downtown (Leslieville).

I'm not an engineer, but I work for them.  Do Additive Manufacturing (formerly Rapid Prototyping).  Building housing and components from CAD data.

Like my Phones - Stax SRX Mk3 and Sennheiser 650s - Love my Speakers - Apogee Divas. Hope I didn't offend anyone.

Good idea with the group Warren! Winter time is a great time to set up a meet, being indoors gets really boring. I work in IT, my specific trade is wireless telecom, but my degree is in distributed computing... go figure. I was born in Toronto, raised in Italy, and moved back here for higher education and work opportunity. My only listening equipment (besides speakers) is my current CIEM.

Thanks for starting the group!

I am a PhD student in pharmacology at UofT.

Hi,

if any one wants to build any amp, count me in!

I am trying to start a B22 4 channel + sigma PSU project. Need a lot of help on chassis and layout!!!!

Oh, also I am a recent grad student from U of T. Current work is code monkey + network design.

P.S.

Just because I have a background of ECE, does not mean I know a lot about power and analog.........

Almost forgot, can you add

atomiccow

to the list.

He is my friend which brought me into hifi. So he should be included in this group too~~
