deep pockets with crappy sound!

yes... i bought the Denon AH-D7100's and i am very disappointed. they have well over 300 hours of playing time and they still sound like $200 headphones. im currently using a Music Streamer 2+ and Schiit Audio Asgard 2. im going to put these Denons on ebay and see what i can get out of them. "NO RESERVE"

ok. here's the deal. the AH-D7100's were very good for watching movies. you can not bottom out these cans with massive explosions and deep bass. for metal... they sucked. you had to boost lower mid range and sub bass to hear the kick-drum with authority. by then... it just sounded way to processed and fake. i need a headphone that produces solid kick drum with authority! im looking for a fun headphone... not to dark, not to bright. the perfect headphone for metal. any suggestions?  listed below, these brands are a no go. thanx!

I don't find metal to have particularly pronounced bass in the first place so you're really trying to add something that isn't there in the first place. That obviously brings other downsides.

I listen to a lot of German metal and by far the best headphones I own for this are my V-Moda M-100's. They have enough presence to give the music the drive it requires. My HD 650's actually reveal more detail but the music lacks the drive I feel metal requires.
