Over ear headphones for open-plan office/home

Hi,

I'm looking comfortable over ear headphones for open-plan office and home, my budget is about 200€. My requirements and wishes are:

  • I would like to be able to use headphones for long periods
  • Good sound quality
    • Buzzwords: EDM, industrial metal, rock, dubstep, neo soul, trip hop and so on
  • Works without amp
    • I'm using laptop and phone
    • I might get amp later
  • Durable / High quality

I have collected initial list of headphones, but I don't know what to choose.

  • Sennheiser HD 598 (sound leakage?)
  • Sennheiser Momentum Over-Ear (too small pads)
  • AKG K551 / K550
  • AKG K702 (sound leakage? needs amp?)
  • AKG Q701 (sound leakage? needs amp?)
  • Beyerdynamic DT770
  • Beyerdynamic DT880
  • Beyerdynamic DT990 (sound leakage?)
  • Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro
  • Audio-Technica ATH-M50x / ATH-M50s

Your list is a bit all over the place.  Open, semi-open, closed; cans that need an amp, those that don't, those that might, and those that might or might not--depending on what version you are talking about.

Please look at the Buying Guide.  Tell us which cans youlike the best overall and why.  Start here:
