HE-500 Worthwile upgrade for me?

Hi all,

So, I have the itch to upgrade my K702 headphones to something... better. I love listening to female vocals mainly but also occasionally reggae, jazz... a wide range really.

My main question is, would my setup (mainly, headphone amplifier) be suitable for powering the HE-500's? The HA540 has a max output of "up to 500 mW/side, 1 W/Stereo ( @ 16 Ohms )". (http://www.rolls.com/pdf/DS_HA540.pdf)

My current setup is: Macbook Air > HRT MS HD > Rolls Bellari HA540 > K702.

Thank you for all your input,

Ronnie.

Nevermind, I found this thread stating its more than powerful enough ;) http://www.head-fi.org/t/589746/anyone-have-experience-with-the-bellari-ha540

Ended up getting the HE-560's after auditioning several phones. I have yet to try them on my rig at home.

I don't mind :) I auditioned it in Singapore while I am here on holiday. The shop is called "AV One" and it's in The Adelphi shopping centre near Funan IT Mall. :)

Fair enough! Thought u auditioned them somewhere in Australia that's why I asked :P
Might have to wait until A2A gets them in

Also, make sure they are production version, heard it's an improvement over other versions

HE-500! :D
Up for sale now, thought you'd be interested but I see you are content with the HE-560, all good mate :)

Gonna downgrade to the HD600 - content with mid-fi atm

One day I'm definitely going to get the HE-560, they sound crazy good

Oh very nice!!! :D Well, I didn't hear the HE-500 but initially I was going to try those out since I thought the store wouldn't have the new HE-560 to try. Until the guy at the store after I told him I wanted to try some HiFiMan's said, "HE-560 or...." and I couldn't resist lol

How would I make sure it is the production version? I'm sure it would be.. The wooden box does look very very nice..... with a metal looking top..

Yeah, I'm sure it would be production - there's a difference in design and SQ between the two. Have a look in the HE-560 impressions thread, they know. Just know that a few people received pre-production models if they pre-ordered the HE-560, so there's a chance. But yeah, they are both spectacular headphones from what I've read - people prefer them over flagships from other companies (Sennheiser, Audeze, Oppo, Beyerdynamic), so I think you have a real winner on your hands :)
Enjoy!

(From somebody who is really envious of you lol)

Thanks buddy :) I asked and turns out the ones I tried were the production model that is revised. So tomorrow I will open the box and double check the ones I bought are the same (Which they should be).

haha well if you are in Sydney you're more than welcome to try them one day before buying yours ;)

That's alright brother, if you're ever in Sydney send me a PM and we can maybe organise something :)

Recently I upgraded my older HRT MS II+ to the HRT MS HD (grabbed it on EBay from someone in Tasmania for only AU$350...) and Im happy with the  Rolls Bellari HA540 amp I currently have. I'm currently using a NOS Mullard tube with it and it's so so liquid smooth... Thanks for offer though! Kind of you mate haha
