Looking for Over-Ear ~400$ Closed Backs

Hi everyone, I am looking to replace a pair of headphones! I am trying to replace a pair of audio-technica ATH-AD900 which I absolutely love. Unfortunately, I will be moving soon and won't be able to continue using open back headphones.

I'm looking for something very similar quality but closed back(and especially comfort) to these for around $400 (flexible price). (I don't use an amp or anything, and would like to continue not using one)

I really like audio-technica and sennheiser so if possible, I'd like to stay with either of those companies, but I am open to anything.

Thank you!

OP - what do you specifically like about the AD900? And are you going to be pairing your new cans with a dac/amp?

I'd prefer not pairing them with a dac/amp, but if it would make a huge difference, I'd be willing to consider it.

I love the comfort on them, it feels like wearing air on my ears. The sound is very detailed, and I dont really mind a bit light on the bass. I'm going to be wearing them quite a bit (~4-5 hours per day) so comfort is very important.

Thanks!

Without an amp, AKG K550 is a great can that's easily driven and is very comfortable.

With an amp, Mr. Speakers Mad Dog is a really nice headphone that I also have no problem wearing for multiple hours on end.

I've used both of these headphones in my work setup.

Thanks for the recommendations! I'm currently trying to decide between the:

AKG K550, Audio-technica ATH-A900x, ATH-W1000x, Denon AH-D600, Sennheiser Momentum

Without an amp on any of them, do you/anyone have any input on those headphones and which would be best or which I can eliminate from the running?

I listen to pretty much all types of music, and will be doing a bit of gaming with them

Thanks!
