Help chosing an extra amp/dac for HD600

Hi,

My first post on this excellent forums, have gotten a lot of help here over the years just browsing through the forum.

I currently have a pair of HD600s with a Musical Fidelity M-DAC and an X-can V2 and I really like the setup. My problem is that I spend a couple months abroad each year and I really don't feel like packing all my gear when I go. I'm therefore looking to buy a new combined amp/dac. It doesn't have to be portable since I obviously won't use my headphones on the go, but I would prefer something that isn't too hard to pack in a carry-on.

I read about the V1 Vivid Technologies, which supposedly works very well with the HD600s. Their site seems to be down for some reason, maybe they've gone out of production?

I'm looking to spend up to 100 USD, I'm a poor student at the moment and really only need something to get me by the time spent away from home. It doesn't have to be spectacular, but it would be nice to have something that might get me to goose bump status :)

Would appreciate any tips you guys have!

Best,

Anthony

Is a DAC a must by the way? Maybe the built in DAC suffices for a couple of months? Maybe it's better to just spend the cash on an amp?
