ATH-AD700 VS. HD558

Well, I finally managed to kill my HD580s (cracked the headband). So I am looking for something ultra comfortable, for hours of listening and also fairly accurate, for preliminary mixing of music. Obviously, I will be doing final mixing on monitors.

Can't afford HD600s right now and for some reason HD580s are going for a lot (I don't think they used to). I already have some Beyerdynamics DT990s that a friend gave me and they will do but I don't want to wear them out.

Anyway, because I prefer open or semi-open, my research so far has led me to either new HD558s or used ATH-AD700s.

Does anyone have experience with either or preferably both of these headphones? Which do you prefer and why?

Thanks.

The ATH-AD700 do have their positives, but there lack of bass is a turn off for music and movies.

So I'm more likely to use my HD558s, over the ATH-AD700s.

(I'm planning on selling off my AD700s)

This ($19 to $25) replacement cable for the HD558 makes it a little easier to use the HD558 with a 3.5mm jack.
