hdtracks has the POTENTIAL to sound better, but not because of bit rate or sample rate, but because of dynamic range. Some of the tracks HDtracks sells are the orginal versions of the recording before they get compressed down and brick wall limit the dynamic range. That being said, a lot of HDtracks stuff is just upsampled versions of the  mass realeased 16/44.1 stuff.
