Best Headphones For Under $100

I'm looking for headphones that are under $100. I'm still new to the audiophile game but would like them to be good quality. I'm think about going with the Audio Technica ATH-M50 but they recently jumped up in price. Also i would like them to be portable but that isn't the biggest concern. Anything helps thx in advance. Also I would like it to have a detachable cable as many of the headphones I had died cause of the cord.

UE 6000--it's being closed out at great prices.

Basshead:

Sony x10 (prices have dropped a ton)

M audio q40

Polk audio hinge

Fun sounding:

Yamaha pro 300

Donscorpio dolphin from penon audio (theres also a little soundstage mod in the asian headphone thread. You take the headphone's earpad off and take off the foam surrounding 1/2 the driver)

Neutral:

Koss pro dj100 with m50 pads (make sure you get genuine m50 pads... isolation isn't the best)

Harmon kardon cl (prices have dropped a ton on this as well... Bass and mids are better overall compared to the martin logan mikros 90 according to digitaltrends)

Martin logan mikros 90 (prices have dropped a ton... Clamping force may be too much for some)

Basshead lite can--only the name is very similar between it and the CAL! (which can currently be had at Amazon for $68).

Were the Akg K240 Studio i bought today, which are in the same price range 95$(shipping included) a good choice?

They're semi-open, dont't fold up and need an amp to be at their best--so they are not a great choice for portable use.  They are a good home can that Amazon Prime has for $69.

Really? From what I'm reading they're the best thing for price / performance atm? I'm looking for some cans, iv got a 12 year long history of trying to figure out what I like. Iv gone from in ear normal to in ear triple armature to over head because of sensitive inner ears & never getting a good seal. Iv figured out over head is the way to go so I got some cheap portapros & they were good, then I moved on to the fantastic jvc ha-s680 &they were brilliant except for the darkness. They have some real growl. Now in lost. There's a lot of good deals atm & I don't know where to go. What I'm looking for something suitable for most genres, I'm quite eclectic like that lol; something that has good quality bass, is very spacious, has good layering, decent imaging, but not too sibilant. I'm not sure if I should look at something more referenced or "fun" lol, but, if possible not the usual popular ones here that everyone swears by lol. My budget is around £100. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I like using viper 4 android, if that helps. Iv been banging my head for about 2 weeks now & CAL! 2 was a top runner as was akg k550, the original CAL! Etc, the usual popular ones i know but I'm giving up lol. Oh, &I'm using a little fiio e6 as well if that helps. Thanks again smily_headphones1.gif

Yup-I agree with Tyll about the CAL!2.  Further, I find that a can that colored is not a very good all-arounder
