I was wondering , should I buy a dedicated amp for my dt770 pro 250 ohms or would the built in headphone amp suffice.

Is there any difference at all ?

I'm assuming you already own the DT770 Pro 250-Ohm headphones and have tried them with the motherboard?

And your wondering if getting an external headphone amplifier would improve audio quality?

Exactly , currently however , they sound quite good.

I don't really know what quality im supposed to expect however.

I would say to stick with what you have for now.

Something like a Schiit Modi (optical) DAC with a Schiit Magni head amp might make a noticeable difference, but your looking at $200+tax/shipping.

or maybe a used ($130) Asus Xonar Essence STX sound card..

Might be best to hold off on buying DAC/Amps and have the next purchase be better headphones.
