Recommendations for cables for LCD-2

Hey everyone, I'm not quite sure what to expect from custom cables, but I want to try some for sure.

I just got my LCD-2 rev 2.2 + fazers, and I want to experiment with different cables.

Where should I start? What should I expect from copper vs silver, should I get a combination of both? It's all so confusing! I don't know where to start :(

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Definitely check out Toxic Cables and Q cables. I had a Silver Poison from Toxic Cables and was actually shocked at the difference it made in my LCD2s but since the cable ripped unfortunately, I am stuck with the stock cable which is really restricting the LCD2s to perform at their best potential.

I keep seeing things saying copper is a bit warmer, have you had any experience comparing silver to copper?

Yes, copper is indeed warmer than silver. Some silver cables have gold in them which really does add a bit of the lower end so it may not sound as cold as a pure silver cable. I like the dark sound of my LCD2 and the silver poison really did add a bit of coldness to it but not overly and not fatiguing but the perfect amount while still maintaining the same amount of lows but just tightening it slightly. So its up to you whether you want to tune your headphones darker or brighter.

Alright, I think what I may do is start with a copper cable, and then get a silver one later on.  I really love the look of both types (another reason I'd like to upgrade) I think custom cables are so much more aesthetically pleasing than the plain stock cable!

My freq. response curve has a tiny roll-off in the low-low bass, I think it's from the fazers, maybe the copper will bring that up a tiny bit.

Yes, they are very exotic looking indeed. I love how litz cables look compared to a plain black cable.

Do remember that silver cables can also bring the low end up a bit in terms of texture, decay, speed, etc but coppers tend to bring it up more in quantity and depth. If you want a bit of both worlds, theres always an option of a gold silver cable or a hybrid copper/silver cable. Hope this helps.

Do you know where I can look at gold/silver cables?  Also, yes it's very very helpful thank you so much!

At the top of my head, I can only think of 2 places that have it which are Toxic Cables and Double Helix Cables. I am sure there is another manufacturer that makes them but I cannot recall who they are. Many say the 1% gold in the cable isn't worth the price tag but that's for you to decide. I personally believe it makes quite a big improvement in the sound but maybe not worth its price tag if you are on a budget.

If you are wanting a cable just because of the looks, check out BTG Audio. Value cables that focus more on ergonomics and looks than sound, also great if you're on a budget. Highly recommended by a lot of people.
