I have three kids and we all use earbuds. They wrap them around their iphones/ipods, and they end up with one side that works and one that doesn't. I've seen a few of the earbud de-tangling products, but none of them seem great. Anybody else have this problem? How do you handle it?
How do you store your earbuds and keep them untangled? Anybody else have this issue?

I unplug them each time I'm finished then wrap the cable like this video shows.
Although much smaller just a scaled down version of that.
I also leave the housings inside little drawstring pouches with the cable hanging out like a tail when they're not stored. This way they can just hang around the lounge room without getting dirt and grit on the tips.
Btw: If they're breaking the connections and losing sound on one side the first thing you should tell them to wrap them lightly. It's ever so tempting by nature to apply force when wrapping a cable or string around something, if they just wrap them lightly (gently) the earphones may have a better chance of surviving.

My sennheiser earbuds came with a lovely little clip pouch, but what really works best for me is a narrow prescription bottle. I just wrap the cord around all four fingers, slide it off, and tuck it into the pill bottle buds first. It's about 1" diameter, 3" tall and it's perfect for storing earbuds. It's narrow enough that cord friction keeps things form moving around too much, sturdy enough that I know they're very well protected, and unobtrusive enough that if I really need to, I can carry them in my pocket (though I strongly prefer in my bag).
