I have been struggling for the last week in order to learn as much as possible as soon as possible about audio . I have a friend coming to america soon which will bring me my order since amazon wont ship to turkey :/ . Here's the last update : my initial plan was to buy hd598 - but i found a guy selling his hd6500 - for 220 dollars . Should I buy hd 650 or go with 598 anyways ? The next update is i was planning to buy an amp but someone said you wont need an amp nor a portable dac if you buy dx100 . Well if it is so , i will , but i just need a comfirmation that this is the situation , i found one for 540 dollars from the same guy in good shape . Also , will the dx100 run the 650 without an amp ?

The HD650 definitely needs an amp for it to be utilized to its full potential, and at $220 (if it's in USD AND if it's real) that is a steal. Whether you should go straight for the 650 or just get the 598 is completely up to you. Some will tell you to listen to both before you make a decision, others will tell you that since you're new, it would be best if you started with the 598 so that you gain better appreciation for the 650 when you upgrade. So in the end, you should just make the choice you're most comfortable with.

As for the DX100 (the ibasso DAP, right?).. From many reviews I read, people have tried it with the 650 and described it as being able to drive them adequately. I guess you just need to decide how often you'd actually be using a portable player like the DX100 to decide if it's worth it, or if you just want a desktop rig.

you said it needs an amp do you mean it needs amp or do you mean it needs amp even with dx 100 . you said adequitely but idk if you meant very good , you wont need an amp or its good but an amp would help . A guy told me that dx100 can drive it quite well and an amp would be pointless :/ so he was wrong? :( I will use it a lot - I will listen at a lot of places where i will be alone and not bother anyone but outside home .

Also someone said that the device is also useful if i plug it between the laptop and the headphone and that its dac is very good and is high end so it will work very good both at home and outside .

also , is the dx100 sold today teh same hardware it was sold when it first came out ?

Not sure if it has the same hardware. Adequately is good for most people, but I personally prefer more power. Yes, it can be used with your computer, but I don't know much about the player overall (I have an ipod and an AK120), so I can't really comment on using it as a DAC paired with the computer.

ok , i guess someone who knows about this players and someone who can compare this to other players will check the thread eventually :) . What amp would i have to use if i was gonna put one between dx100 and hd650 ?

Honestly, a nice budget amp would be the Schiit Magni if you want a Solid State amp, or the Schiit Vali if you want tubes.

Well heres teh problem : to start with , they are used , as far as i understand , the guy im buying from bought from his friend so gotta be at least 2-3 years old i guess. 2nd - I have no guarantee that it is undamaged and no way of telling the low performance if there is since this is first headphone. He says chipped paint , is it normal ? Also , although idk the difference , the picture looks like its the old HD650 without the white layer behind the grills (? right word ? ) . Also , people say that after 598 , they are all good and not much difference between 598 and 650 . Is it true ? If that so i plan on getting the 598 because 650s look hideous , and the one im planning to buy doesnt seem safe .Also , 598s look very nice and i hear the yare light and that they do not have any physical defects other than being fragile . So , what do you think ? I s the sound quality worth it considering these ?

My remaining unanswered questions :

" Will the dx100 run the 650 with above good  performance without an exterşor amp or dac ( above good performance in portable category ) "

"Someone said that the device (dx100) is also useful if i plug it between the laptop and the headphone and that its dac is very good and is high end so it will work very good both at home and outside . Is this true ? Will the dx100 work as a good dac for desktop ?

"Since it first came out , did the dx100 get any upgrades except the android and software update ? I mean are the dx100 s sold today same with the dx100s sold when they were first came out except the software differences which can be solved with update ? "
