Akg has these headphone on the way!! They seem to have "enriched" bass from its description. Looks nice, anyone know anything about these?

The Y50 is hideous.. I personally wouldn't wear it ever. The Y45 looks decent, but they're on ears, and so are the 40's. On ears are uncomfortable for me on general, so looks like I'll be skipping out on the whole lineup..

interesting.
i am in the market for an on-ear headphone, and have been very satisfied with 2 of the 3 akg's i've owned.
but this enriched bass and lifestyle(whatever that means) makes me doubt the y-series.

Those look nice... But gosh darn it Harman! Why'd you have to mess with my akg?? I wish akg would go back to their 1970's level of ingenuity... They haven't experimented with any new driver configurations or gotten real creative with things since before Harman bought them... Think about it. AKG's accomplishments: First open back headphone in history the k50, "varimotion" diaphragms which really are brilliant if you've seen them in diagrams, passive radiators, an electret-dynamic crossover design, surround sound headphones with 4 drivers and 2 drivers the k270 and k280, the k1000 earspeaker, acoustic filters, moving coils, mass load membranes, worlds first dynamic cardioid microphone, and many more... I want that akg back. Although, these look pretty nice... Btw guys, reading up on it, the y50 is on ear. Might buy a y45bt (because I like the colors lol. And because I can still slap a wired connection on it.) and post impressions if the price is low enough. :)

Can't find release dates, but I did find prices. The AKG Y40 are priced at £69.99, while the AKG Y50 cost £79.99 and the AKG Y45 BT £109.99.

Meh. I much preferred the design language of the K550 and K545's. They're trying too hard to be hip now.
I liked those too... My favorite looking akg is the k240 or the k812.

It all makes sense now. I've noticed a significant price drop on the k 618-9 and other portables at an official seller.
The "enriched bass" thing worries me. I guess this is their attempt to go for the young and Beats market. Personally I'm doubtful about bluetooth headphones so I'm not inclined to try them out. I'm just hoping they'll use all the money to work on the quality range.

I've just had a Y50 sent to me to try out and review and I have to say, first impressions are quite good.

The one sent to me is black, and it looks really quite good. I'm not so sure about the brighter ones though!!

It's lightweight and very comfortable, in spite of being 'on ear'. I'll write a review soon on DIY Audio Heaven but it is a terrific replacement for the k450 and 451, and in my opinion, has a lot more in common with the Tiesto in terms of look and sound. Perhaps a little more balanced than the Tiesto which seems to have the mids sucked away.

The Y50 has a raised bass, (which I don't mind in a portable headphone), smooth top end and is a closed headphone.

For the purpose it's designed for, I think AKG have hit a good compromise. It is most definitely 'designer' wear but the sound is more refined than the k450 with a little more clarity in its sound. I always found the k450 way too bloated and uneven in FR. It's not a 'hi fi' headphone but good and an improvement on the k4** series imo. Tiesto is it's closest relative.

I think its retail is £79 in the UK.

I'll write more on it later when I've done some more listening.
