Best In-Ear Monitors for Listening to Soundtracks

Thread Starter

Hello there,

I am a new member at Head-Fi and for the past few months I've just been a reader of this amazing forum, but I decided I needed some help choosing some new headphones. I'm looking for the headphone that performs the best with soundtracks. I usually like a good amount of bass in my headphones but clarity, to me is very, if not the most important factor. An apple remote control is always welcome. I'm looking for a headphone that can produce the full range of sounds so you can really get a "feel" of the music and to be able to hear every instrument, with good instrument separation. Soundstage is important too (...am I using that term correctly...?). Price doesn't really matter but hopefully it's around $150 (you can recommend a product that's more than $150 anyway).

I listen to composers such as James Newton Howard, John Williams, and my all time favorite, John Powell (just listen to his two How to Train Your Dragon scores).

The Etymotic HF3 headphones look pretty good but I am a bit scared to purchase them because people say that it doesn't have too much bass and it breaks easily.

Well, hopefully you guys can give me a hand!

I look forward to your recommendations.

Pablo.
