New to audiophile and could really use some help/Advice

Hey folks,

I'm a complete noob when it comes to audiophile terms and equipment. That being said, I could really use some advice/tips on the audio set up I'm planning. First of all, I want a set up for strictly record use and CD use. I'm not looking for movie surround set ups or anything like that. The equipment I'm planning on purchasing, pending on your advice because I've no idea what I'm doing, is as follows:

For speakers, I'm planning on going with the Revel F208 floor standing speakers.
Power Amp, the Mcintosh MC 302
Preamp, Mcintosh C2300

So here's my first question. Will this set up work for what I want to achieve?
Also, is there anything else I would need or should add to this system to improve it?

Thanks in advance

A complete newbie to the audiphile world, yet already willing to drop more than $10K on a speaker setup, not including sources?  Alrighty then.

Will it work?  Probably.  Will you like the result?  I nor anyone else can answer that.  What should you add to make your setup better?  Excellent sources, well thought out and speaker placement, and room treatment are essential.

This is mainly a headphone forum, and I've only dabbled in the speaker world, but my advise to you is do lots of research, and audition everything you can before investing.  You'll likely find what you are looking for at a lower price point, or something more to your liking at your current one.

Good luck.

Check out AVS's speaker forum and 2 channel audio forum for getting advice on home audio setups. AVS is to home audio as Head-Fi is to headphones.
