Newbie says Hello to H/Fi boarders...

Good afternoon !  I just joined the forum and hope I am able to learn from the erudite experts on this board. I am also looking to acquire a few components which are detailed below:

I am in the market for a gently used Gyro SE ( w/ DC drive --> MK-V edition ) with a TechnoArm or Audimods tonearm with or without other accessories. The unit must be in near mint condition. However, given that I am based in the U.S I'll need a few things taken care of :

(1) I need the components disassembled, packed (w/ protective foam or bubble wrap) and shipped with insurance - all of which I am willing to pay extra for above and over the mutually agreed upon price for the TT and accessories.

(2) I will also need help in getting the standard A.C to D.C power supply re-factored by Michell Engg to suit U.S input voltage and frequency (110V/60Hz) and the plugs changed to fir U.S style sockets. This I am told the good folks at M.E undertake all the time for a small fee + S/H.

Also need advise from fellow boarders as to what the do's and dont's ( checks and balances from a buyer's perspective ) w.rt  transferring money to a prospective seller in a transaction. Looking forward to hearing back from you all.

Cheers,

-Seth

Welcome to the board. You're not likely to get much response to your inquiry here though. Firstly, it's in the wrong section of the forums - You'd be better off reposting that in the correct category in the For Sale / Trade Forums (make sure you put it in the correct category). You can post a WTB (wanting to buy) post. Just read the classifieds rules & guidelines. Second, I am not sure what type of equipment that is, but I'm guessing its a turntable? If so this may not be the best "classifieds" forum for that, as the focus of this site is on headphones and associated equipment. There is a section for source components, and you may find what your'e looking for there, but it may not be as large & active as a dedicated turntable forum would be.

Thanks for the reply. I did try posting in the FSTF but it appears that I do not have the privilege to post in that forum (??). This was the only workaround I could think of :( .

Yes, the Michell Gyro SE is a TT alright. I did see a couple of listings in here from way back in 2010 and thought this might be worthwhile posting it in here. I'll give the FSTF another try.

That's one of the boards built in protections against spammers / scammers. Spend some time around, read all the rules & other forums, participate, and after a bit you'll be able to post in the FS/FT forums.
