Headphones to complement Pro900

Thread Starter

Hey guys, this is my first post here.  I was hoping you guys could recommend a good pair of headphones to complement my Ultrasone Pro900's.  I produce alot of electronic music and I have decent monitors, but I can't always use them.  I've been thinking about the Sennheiser HD650 and the AKG k712.  Any input would be appreciated.

u are looking for monitoring headfones that are open?  to complement your bassy closed pro900?

Those are both open headphones, so if sound leakage is a problem, you may consider looking at some closed solutions.

I haven't heard the K712, but I have heard the K702 and the HD650.  Between the HD650 and K702, I'd go for the HD650.  Its going to be more detailed, smoother, and more balanced. I found the AKG to have a 'false' sense of detail because of the forward upper-mids/low-treble.

Of course, I'd recommend you go for the HD600 instead, and save the money.  Just as good as the HD650, with a slightly more neutral presentation.

Good luck in your search.
