I had a Denon AVR-2105 connected to my computer powering my 2 Inifity P163s. A friend of mine accidentally splashed a bit of water onto the top while it was on, leading to some fried components. The receiver also had a previous issue with the left channel always having crackle and feedback so I'd been wanting to replace it anyway. I might do something with it in the future but for now it can go onto a storage shelf.
I've been considering getting a simple speaker mini-amp but I'm wanting one that will accept both my speakers with their stereo cable plugs and a sub when I pick one up. I can't decide whether a mini amp would be the way to go or if I should look into maybe a full stereo amp or even another affordable receiver. I got this Denon used on craigslist for a good deal but it was while I was on a trip out of town nearer the city, not somewhere I'm expecting to be in for another few months.
I'm not sure where I would it for a budget, I'm sure somewhere between 100 - 200$ would be best considering I'm also going to be getting a sub in that range in the near future as well.
Also a side question, I've considered the idea of upgrading from my 2.1 system to a 3.1 and getting a center speaker for the top of my desk above me. I just don't know how much I might gain with a 3.1 system + sub over a 2.1 system + sub. Most of the system application is for music and gaming. Any competitive gaming is done with my ATH-M50's and not often the speakers. I've not done any looking into the benefits of a 3.1 system at this point so this is really just a general thoughts questions so I can get an idea.
Anyway hopefully I can get some suggestions as to what to look at for new bits and pieces.
